Issuer Regulation - Simplification Project

The JSE received overwhelming support for this project which was proposed in the May 2022 JSE Consultation Paper (Listings Review). The aim of the project is to simplify the JSE Listings Requirements (the “Requirements”) using plain language to record concise regulatory objectives, which will be easier to understand and apply for issuers and sponsors. We believe that an ancillary benefit of this undertaking may be a significant reduction in the volume of the Requirements. In this process, we will also assess the regulatory relevance of each provision and “cutting red tape” where possible to ensure that the Requirements are fit for purposes aimed at an effective and appropriate level of regulation. To this end, any amendments beyond simplification will be clearly identified and the rationale explained.
